The Raid was originally a production built around the idea of making a short film that would give Justin and I the chance to make some miniatures and practice some practical effects that we had been wanting to try for a while. Both of us are big fans of Star wars and take a lot of inspiration from the early days of Lucas films when the ships were built models and backgrounds were done using matte board paintings. We talked extensively about the project during the writing process and came up with an interesting idea for an opening credit sequence involving the outside of a NYC apartment building which I would build to suit the production needs. This process ultimately took five moths and over a year of pre production and production.
