My Story

    Hi! My name is Sophia Morgan Jacobs but most of my friends call me Sophie. I am New York based artist and designer born in Littleton Colorado but moved to Hong Kong (SAR of China) in 2008. I spent the majority of my childhood there where I was enrolled in The French International School of Hong Kong and spent the eight and a half years abroad learning French. My diverse background, along with having opportunities to travel the world has allowed me to view the world through a unique lens which influences my art on a daily basis.  

   

After spending my formative years abroad, my family returned to the United States in 2017 to allow me to go to an American high school. This is where I found my love for the performing arts participating in various theater productions both as construction/run crew and stage management. After my four years learning the ropes, I knew that I wanted to pursue Stage Management as a career. After being accepted to NYU Tisch's Production & Design program I learned that I really love scenic design. In my 4 years at Tisch I worked on several theatrical productions in both Scenic Design and Stage Management and started to dip my toes into the world of Film. I am now an NYU Tisch Alumni with a BFA focus in Production & Design (Scenic and Stage Management) and a Minor in Film Production.

I am looking forward to the future of performing and visual arts even as the world continues to be a foreboding and uncertain place. It is clear to me that artists communities are a strong force to be reckoned with and that as artists our goal is to move people, create strong communities and if lucky, make a difference in this ever changing world.
